Lore Friendly Cars for a Full Server Fleet
A city needs more than a few hero cars. It needs a starter tier players can afford in their first week, a middle tier worth grinding for, a handful of cars nobody can buy yet, and enough ordinary traffic that none of it stands out. Build the fleet, not the showroom
Most servers buy cars the wrong way round. They start with the fastest thing in the store, put it in the dealership at a price nobody can reach, and then wonder why every player drives the same three starter vehicles for a month. A fleet is a distribution, not a highlight reel.
A workable split for a mid-size city looks roughly like this:
- Starter tier. Cheap hatchbacks, small sedans, work vans. Slow, forgiving, and numerous enough that two new players rarely turn up in the same car.
- Working tier. Pickups, estates, older coupes. What a player buys once a job is paying. This tier does the most work and is usually the thinnest on a new server.
- Aspirational tier. Sports cars and modern coupes, priced so buying one is an event.
- Restricted. Emergency, gang and event vehicles that never enter the public spawn table at all.
Why in-world manufacturers hold up better
Cfx.re's Platform License Agreement is clear that real-world car models and their badges do not belong on a FiveM server, and stripping the badges off a real model does not settle it: the model itself is the problem. Vehicles built around the game's fictional marques sidestep that entirely. They also look right. A Bravado parked outside a Declasse reads as part of Los Santos; a real coupe next to either one reads as something a player dragged in.
What to check before a pack goes live
- Handling. Open
handling.metaand look for values copied wholesale from a base game car. A pack where every vehicle shares one handling line will feel identical to drive no matter how different the models look. - carcols and carvariations. Missing entries are why a car spawns with the wrong wheels, no modkit, or a colour the player cannot change.
- Stream size. Textures are where packs get heavy. Eighty vehicles at 4K per material will cost more download time and client memory than the same eighty at sensible sizes, and players on modest hardware feel it first.
- The spawn table. Adding a car to the dealership is not the same as adding it to traffic. Decide deliberately which vehicles ambient traffic is allowed to use, or the city fills with supercars.
- Names. Every vehicle needs a proper display name in the label file.
NULLin a garage list is the fastest way to make a paid pack look free.
Adding a pack
Drop the resource into your resources folder, add the ensure line to server.cfg, and restart. Vehicles resolve by spawn code, so a garage or dealership script picks them up as soon as the codes are in its config. Nothing here needs a framework: the same files run on ESX, QBCore and Qbox, because vehicle content sits below the framework layer entirely.
